Sadie's Story

"Can I keep him mom? Please?" Maya Roth asked her mother.

"Maya it's a stray cat, and you found it in the back lane!"
Maya squeezed the cat in her arms, and put a pouty look on her round face.

"Where is it going to sleep?"
The short child pondered for a minute."He can share a room with me!"

Maya squealed excitedly.
"How are you going to teach him to stay there, and to not go into my room?"

Her mother asked, silently hoping that her daughter wouldn't have an answer and she could get rid of the stray.

"I can teach him! Every time he learns to do something or not to do something I can give him a treat! That will make him learn! And when he does something bad, I'll squirt water at him with a spray bottle!

As maya was trying to reason with her mom, the cat jumped out of Maya's arms and ran to the kitchen.

"get it out of my kitchen now!" Maya bolted to the kitchen, like a horse trying to win a race. She heard a clashing sound, like someone just dropped glass on the ground. Her feet slipped and scraped on the floors tiles. As she ran in the kitchen, she couldn't see the cat. But she immediately noticed the table cloth on the floor, torn to shreds. She looked all around. There where broken plates and glasses scattered across the room. She tiptoed her way around the room, trying to not step in the shards of broken glass. She heard a faint sound, coming from the stove. Maya was shocked at what she saw.

There was the cat, sitting there unharmed, gnawing on a piece of the table cloth. She started to make her way to him and when she got close enough to reach him, she stuck of her arms and he jumped in to them. As he jumped, a pan fell from the stove and landed with a loud. Carefully, trying not to step in the glass or drop the cat, she got out of the kitchen and saw her mother quickly making her way to her daughter. "Are you alright? I heard a loud crash!"
" I'm okay, but the kitchen is a mess!" Maya's mother rushed to her kitchen. She gasped at the sight before her.

"So you risked getting glass in you feet, and possibly your head for a cat!?" Her mother exclaimed, still in a shocked state of mind at the sight of her kitchen.

"Yes I did! That proves how much I love him and it proves how much I want to keep him!"

"Get that cat out of my sight! Now!"
With her shoulder slumped, and a frown on her face, maya slowly trudged up to her room, with the cat still in her arms.

Then, just at that moment, an idea popped into Maya's mind. One that she knew would work. It just had to. A smile blossomed on her face, as she ran up the stairs, her light brown hair whipping behind her. She put on her best cutie face, took a deep breath, and shouted:

"Daddy!"
